أدانت المملكة العربية السعودية بأشد العبارات جميع أعمال العنف ضد البعثات الدبلوماسية، وفشل السلطات الإيرانية تجاه احترام المبدأ الأساسي من مبادئ حرمة المباني الدبلوماسية والقنصلية والتزامات الحكومات المضيفة.
جاء ذلك في الرسالة التي وجهها معالي مندوب المملكة الدائم لدى الأمم المتحدة السفير عبد الله بن يحيى المعلمي بتاريخ 3 يناير 2016 م إلى رئيس مجلس الأمن ورئيس الجمعية العامة، والأمين العام للأمم المتحدة ، وفيما يلي نص الرسالة :
” بناء على تعليمات من حكومتي، أود أن أحيطكم علما بالاقتحام والهجوم ضد سفارة المملكة العربية السعودية، في 2 يناير 2016، في طهران، إيران. في الوقت الذي تم فيه انتهاك ونهب مقر السفارة وإشعال النار فيها، إن السلطات الإيرانية فشلت في القيام بواجباتها لتوفير الحماية الكافية. ووقع هجوم مماثل، خلال اليوم نفسه، ضد القنصلية السعودية في مدينة مشهد، إيران. مرة أخرى، لم تبال السلطات الإيرانية وفشلت في الوفاء بالتزاماتها بموجب القانون الدولي، لمنع وقوع الهجمات .
إن حكومة المملكة العربية السعودية تدين بأشد العبارات جميع أعمال العنف ضد البعثات الدبلوماسية. وعلاوة على ذلك، إننا نشعر بالفزع إزاء فشل السلطات الإيرانية تجاه احترام المبدأ الأساسي من مبادئ حرمة المباني الدبلوماسية والقنصلية والتزامات الحكومات المضيفة، بما في ذلك اتفاقية فيينا لعام 1961 الخاصة بالعلاقات القنصلية، باتخاذ جميع الخطوات المناسبة لحماية المباني الدبلوماسية والقنصلية ضد أي اقتحام أو ضرر.
سوف أكون مقدرا للغاية إذا تم تعميم هذه الرسالة على جميع أعضاء المجلس وإصدارها كوثيقة من وثائق مجلس الأمن والجمعية العامة، في إطار بنود جدول الأعمال ذات الصلة”.
